Potty Training Girls
For some reason, people believe that potty training girls is easier than potty training boys. There is some truth to this because girls usually mature faster than boys. They also reach their potty training milestones earlier than boys. Not to mention, girls also shows signs of being ready for potty training at an earlier age than boys.
How to Potty Train a Girl?
Girls, like boys, well children in general regardless of gender, needs to be ready before even considering potty training them. A great indicator that they are ready is when they can stay dry for long periods of time, usually, 2-3 hours. Another sign is that they should be able to understand you in a way and can communicate with you. This will make the potty training easier.
Another thing before attempting to potty train a child is that you, the parent, needs to also be ready. Being ready means you have time , you are available the whole day for the duration of the process and you are well equipped with potty training materials and equipment.
When you and your child are ready, you can then begin the process. You need a potty chair for your daughter or if you prefer, a potty seat and a step stool. A potty chair may be easier for her at first because it is small and she can easily reach and sit on it. With a potty seat and a step stool, she may have difficulty climbing and sitting. Also, some children are afraid of the thought of falling in to the toilet. So let her choose what she wants and what she is more comfortable with and go with that.
You need to let her feel comfortable around the equipment so it’s better if you let her spend some time near it. You can even leave the bathroom door open so she can see it from time to time. During the training, let her sit on it so that she will feel comfortable.
The key to potty training is consistency and making a schedule then sticking with it. Just do everything as scheduled and your child will learn.
